Derek Hunter is a 20-year veteran of talk radio and podcasting. He is the host of The Derek Hunter Podcast, available on iTunes, Stitcher, and SoundCloud, and a prominent conservative voice in political commentary, writing, and broadcasting.

Derek began his broadcasting career in 2005, hosting a live call-in radio show for The Heritage Foundation focused on public policy. In 2007, he launched the popular Capitol Hill-based podcast The First Friday

By 2011, he was regularly hosting The Big Show on Saturday afternoons on WMAL Radio in Washington, D.C. and that same year, he joined WBAL Radio in Baltimore, initially hosting weeknights from 9 PM to midnight, and later moving to the noon–2 PM weekday slot, competing with Rush Limbaugh’s show.

Derek became the mid-morning host at WCBM in Baltimore in 2019. He also hosted at WFMD in Frederick, Maryland, where he served as both on-air talent and program director.

One of Derek’s career highlights came in November 2020 when he was invited to guest host The Rush Limbaugh Show, making him one of the final guest hosts before Limbaugh’s passing.
